    Hello Jeff.
    Here's how I created my caveman.dat using hex
    workshop 2.50. Go to File / New to start a new
    blank file. If you try to type in bytes at this point you get the error sound. That's because
    the program defaults to Overwrite mode instead of
    Insert mode. Check the lower right corner of the
    status bar and you'll see OVR. Hit the Insert
    key on your keyboard to toggle to Insert mode
    (INS). Now you should be able to type in bytes
    as indicated in the other threads.
